Rocky Mountain Roundup 2016/17 - Week 8

Colorado Blizzard Clinch Nationals, Freedom FC Poised for Wild Card Bid

3/3/17 – Week 8 was a must win for the Bighorns and Freedom if they were to have a chance on getting a wild card bid into the PASL National Championships.

No surprise Golden gave the Edwards a run for their money; but they still could not get over that hump and fall 8-7 to Freedom FC.  Similarly, the Bighorns, started out with heavy punishment to the Blizzard with an early 2-0 lead in the first, but a 4-0 run in the second for the Blizzard proved to be the difference as the Colorado Blizzard take it to the house 7-5.

With the win over the Rocky Mountain Bighorns (5-3), the Colorado Blizzard (7-0) have secured a spot in the PASL National Championships. There will be no games this weekend with Arena FC (2-6) forfeiting to Freedom FC (5-2); who are still in the hunt for a wild card spot.  They host the Colorado Blizzard next Saturday at the WECMRD Fieldhouse in Edwards, CO at 1:00PM.

No Blizzard this Week, Yet an Avalanche of Goals

2/2/17 – Week 4 was a bye-week for the Colorado Blizzard, who have been known for their scoring prowess; but there was not an absence in goals.  32 Goals between the 4 teams in action with 20 of them coming from our team of the week!

The Rocky Mountain Bighorns outlasted the Golden Strikers; taking a 6 to 4 lead at half and then hanging on as each sided traded goals for the 9 to 11 win.  Arena FC fell 8 to 4 in a chippy affair with Freedom that also saw midfielder Eric Goldberg sent off for the match after accumulating 3 time penalties in the same match.  After league review; the ejection is only bound to the match and Goldberg will not it out any further matches for the infraction.

This weekend the Blizzard returns to the Soccer Haus Sports Arena; for a huge showdown with co-tenant Rocky Mountain Bighorns on a Saturday night at 7:00PM.  Then the Strikers return to the Golden Goal Sports Complex in Golden to host Arena FC as both look to tip the scoring balance and record their first win on the 2016-17 season at 7:30PM.
